Crossing to Ceuta [a Spanish foothold in Africa]

We all [or almost all] managed to board the ferry without a problem. However, half an hour later when we were all sitting in the lounge getting to know each other, we realised that the Ray and Debbie and the Unimog, and Andrew and Shirley and their van [they are the Caravan and Camping Club tour escorts] were still sitting on the quayside. For a while, we thought we were going to be waving them “goodbye” and touring Morocco on our own!

We had a rather hazy view of the Rock of Gibraltar as we sailed across to Ceuta, and we managed to see a baby dolphin, thanks to David’s sharp eyes! We spent time chatting to Richard and Cheryl out on deck.

Checking through Moroccan customs was a real eye-opener, all arm-waving, shouting and vehicles everywhere – I think a few palms were greased to get us all through so quickly! We met up on a car park a little way up the coast for a final headcount before driving on to Martil, our first site in Morocco.
