Carpet buying again

Back to carpets! We are finding it incredibly difficult to beat off the traders in Hamid’s village. At lunchtime, we bought a plastic mat for outside the van from a young lad, Toffu, and his mates. It was quite good fun trading as they were after t-shirts, old mobiles, even cans of beer [which he would come back to collect after dark!] The young lad turned out to be the same one who accompanied on the walk to the Kasbah with Benni.
Then, at his insistence, we visited Benni’s shop and bought a real carpet [only a small runner for the hall, though  they are not cheap!] This was proper bartering, moving from one price towards another and each offer noted down on a pad as you went along. It was a fascinating experience and I think David did pretty well but we probably still paid over the odds!

Who is in charge here?!

As I am writing, David has just stepped aboard and said, "It looks like a ******** bazaar on the van!"
